I am a local artist living in Killinghall close to Harrogate, North Yorkshire with a studio in the town centre. I am a figurative painter specialising in portraiture using primarily oils but with a love for charcoal. 

Originally I trained and worked as a musician and teacher but I was surrounded by artists from an early age which led to my interest in figurative drawing and painting. Early mentoring came from Will Roberts and Gyorgy Gordon and recently Andres Jaroslavsky.

I paint and draw my family and friends, finding the times when they are unaware of being noticed and also the times when they want to confront the onlooker with an unwavering gaze. 

I like working with people who are interested in other people, family or friends. To not necessarily seek the typical portrait of someone they know but a fleeting glimpse into their own private life. 

Recent work shown in the New Light Exhibition 2023/24 touring at the Williamson Museum & Art Gallery, Bankside Gallery, Rheged Arts Centre, The Biscuit Factory and The Mercer Art Gallery. Also at the Ferens Art Gallery 2024.
